[0:07] Have you heard about super foods? Do you know what they are and why they’re so important and where to find them?
Stay tuned as I will answer all these questions and share easy ways to incorporate these beneficial foods into your diet.

[0:26] Music.

[0:33] Hi, my name is Biggi Fraley. I am The Arthritis Coach, and welcome to this week’s show! I am so glad you could join me.

[0:44] We are talking superfoods today.
Superfoods are a special category of foods that are found in nature; and by definition they’re very sparse in calories, yet
dense in nutrients, meaning they pack a lot of punch for the weight as far as goodness goes.
They’re also superior sources of antioxidants and essential nutrients,
which are nutrients that we need but our bodies cannot make ourselves.
The most important thing for you to know is that superfoods are actually easy to find in your local supermarket. Yup, they are worth looking for.
So let me quickly share the top 10 superfoods with you. They are apples,
blueberries, beets, avocados, kale,

[1:51] kiwi fruit, lentils, sweet potatoes, walnuts, and wild salmon.
When I see that list of foods I just go yum! I’ve always loved pretty much all of these superfoods, and I crave them.

[2:14] And why do you think that is? I believe it is my body telling me that yes,
that is what I want, that is good for me, those
provide the nutrients that I need to repair, to regenerate, to detoxify, and to heal.

[2:38] Do you know what I mean? Once you give your body the nutrients that it needs,

[2:46] those are the things you will start craving.

[2:50] Now, superfoods are loaded with nutrients. They are a nutritional powerhouse,
that are crucial to a healthy and long life. And, if you can include a variety of them into your daily diet, I promise they will change your life.
Now, I also want to share
5 more favorite superfoods of mine that you may not have tried before.

[3:26] Starting out with Chia seeds.
You may already be familiar with them. Ancient cultures throughout Central America have actually long enjoyed chia seeds as a key part of their food and their medicine.
You see, chia seeds are actually loaded with Omega fats, protein, antioxidants, and dietary fiber.
It does have a mild, nutty flavor,
and an uncanny ability to absorb lots of liquid, which means they’re ideal for hydration and also making you feel full.
I also have a gift for you today,
in which I share one of my favorite little recipes the blueberry chocolate pudding which will show you a fantastic way to use chia seeds
and other superfoods, when you get my free
recipe guide at https://biggifraley.com/kicksugar So, definitely check it out! It’ll be well worth it and you’ll thank me for that yummy recipe.

[4:46] So let’s go on with another superfood, hemp seed. Hemp is a well-balanced plant-based protein source, that includes all of the essential amino acids.
Plus, it’s easy for the body to digest and assimilate.
Hemp also features plenty of other nutrients including abundant amounts of fiber,
chlorophyll, vitamins, and Omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids.

[5:21] You can sprinkle hemp on your salads or add them to smoothies. With just 3 tablespoons of hemp seed added to your smoothie it will add 11 grams of protein.
So, no more worries about not getting enough protein on a plant-based diet.
And, next we have raw cacao nibs.
I’m a little bit chuckling at the those because I think out of four livestreams now, I’ve probably mentioned cacao in at least three of them. It’s surely one of my favorite superfoods!
The cocoa nibs come from the cacao bean that come straight of the tropical cacao fruit.
And, cacao was a culinary treasure to meso-americans for thousands of years and it has been touted as the food of Gods,
or, in my case may I say the food of goddesses, for its superior nutritional profile and exceptional flavor.

[6:32] Now,
one of the things you can do to include the raw cacao nibs into your diet, is make your own little trail mix by mixing shredded coconut,
raw cacao nibs, dried cranberries, and a nut of your choice. Some of my personal favorite nuts are walnuts, macadamia nuts, and Brazil nuts.

[6:58] Next we have Maca. Maca is a potent, ancient Peruvian superfood,
that was highly prized by Incan Warriors to increase stamina, boost libido,
and combat fatigue. I believe something most of us can use in today’s stressful environment.
Now, the maca root is also known for its adaptogenic qualities, that enable us to nourish and balance the body’s delicate endocrine system, and to help cope with
stress.
I am in big favor of adaptogenic herbs and plants because what that term adaptogenic basically means is that,
as we consume it it adapts to the current needs of our bodies. Now, if that alone doesn’t make it a superfood I don’t know what
does. Right? Give the body what it needs. Also the maca root energizes without,
any jitters or crashes that you may experience with caffeine, plus it can aid in your reproductive function, helping to balance hormones and increase fertility.

[8:23] You can add Maca to smoothies for an extra energy boost.
And last we got one of my favorite little snacks, Goji berries. Now, you’ve probably heard of those. In the last few years they have definitely had a good reputation, have become very popular and are easily available. Now, Goji berries also provide a number of important macronutrient including carbohydrates,
protein, healthy fats, and soluble fibers. And, there is even a lot more to this sweet little red
berry. Which is, it has 18 amino acids, free radical fighting antioxidants,
carotenoids, vitamins A, C, and E, and more than 20 other trace minerals and vitamins including zinc,
iron, phosphorus in riboflavin, which is vitamin B2.

[9:32] So we can definitely say that Goji berries
pack a punch because ounce for ounce, Goji berries actually contain more vitamin C than oranges, more beta carotene than carrots, and more iron
then soy beans, and even spinach.
Now, if that isn’t powerful I don’t know what is! Munch on these goodies as your afternoon snack, So, to sum it up,
these super foods give you a wonderful way to supercharge your day,
and I encourage you to start including them into your daily meal plan right now, and again, to support you doing that, I would love for you to receive my free gift:
